Meet DeWayde C Perry M.D.

Center for Integrative Health and Performance was established by DeWayde C. Perry, M.D., who is a native of Akron, Ohio. Dr. Perry's undergraduate years were spent at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee.  Prior to his senior year, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he graduated meritoriously from Parris Island as the honor man for India Company, 3rd Battalian. Three months prior to earning his degree from Fisk, Dr. Perry was placed on active duty for the Persian Gulf War and withdrew from the university.

Dr. Perry later matriculated to Meharry Medical College also in Nashville, where he spent his basic science years. He was one of twelve Meharry students selected to perform third-year clinical rotations at the former Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Perry returned to Meharry to graduate with a Doctorate of Medicine in 1995.

From 1995 to 1997, Dr. Perry completed his first two years of general surgery training at Boston University School of Medicine in Massachusetts. He then completed a one year surgical research fellowship at the institution. Dr. Perry completed his general surgery residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, graduating as chief resident in 2002. Prior to starting Center for Integrative Health and Performance, Dr. Perry practiced medicine in Ohio and South Carolina.

Participating in sports for most of his life, including as a collegiate athlete, Dr. Perry has envisioned integrating physical fitness with medicine. That vision led to Dr. Perry becoming certified as a personal trainer by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) in 2000. Since 2002, Dr. Perry has participated in several regional and national bodybuilding competitions, winning an overall title, and earning multiple victories in his weight class.

In addition to competitive bodybuilding, Dr. Perry has studied and trained in various styles of martial arts, with his current focus being Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. In 2005, he traveled to Deng Feng, China, home of the famed Shaolin Temple, for one month of intensive Shaolin kung-fu training.  In 2008, Dr. Perry was admitted to the Oregon State Athletic Commission and serves as a ringside physician for combat sports.

Dr. Perry has been published in several magazines and journals including Muscle & Fitness, Planet Muscle, Beverly International Body Muscle, and American Muscle and Fitness.  He holds professional memberships in the American Academy of Anti Aging Medicine, World  Society of Anti Aging Medicine, and the International Hormone Society.
